Mechanical maintenance section carries out maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment. They play a key role in ensuring that the mechanical systems and equipment in the institute function efficiently. The section collaborates with almost every section/unit to ensure the mechanical systems in house can be relied upon at all times.
Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using handtools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment: Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, such as conveyors, and programmable controllers, following electrical code and blueprints, using handtools and voltage tester. They also diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
This section carries out every activity related to structural maintenance, building and construction, fixing structural defects and reccommending safety practises to avoid future failures, preparation of concrete, terrazo or marble floors for mounting of machines and creating estectic friendly water ways (for laboratory). In general they handle everything building and construction for the institute.
They ensure constant electricity power is uninterrupted, by carrying out preventive maintenance regularly and general inspection that includes checking the coolant level, oil level, fuel system, and starting system. The charge-air cooler piping and hoses are inspected regularly for leaks, holes, cracks, dirt and debris that may be blocking the fins or loose connections.
